Brazil…

In less than 4 days I will step in São Paulo once again, and I must say: I’m VERY excited! Excited to compare, to explore, to have fun, to kiss my family, to hug my friends, to hold Daniel in my arms and to take Marzipan for a long walk. I want to walk around by myself, go to Augusta St. in the middle of the afternoon for no reason, meditated in the middle of São Paulo’s hectic traffic, party my ASS off and enjoy this summer (winter in Brazil) like I never did before. Although this semester was a dream come true in every single way, I’m definitely prepared to take a break and to enjoy the most of it. With responsibility 😉 of course. I want to go to Cachaçarias, to Bubu Lounge, to Sub Astor, to Vila Madalena, to have lunch with my parents on Saturdays, to spends nights watching TV at Andréia’s house, to able to buy a drink without showing my ID, to drink a glass of wine while having dinner, to go to Pão de Açúcar, to be brazilian in Brazil and to WATCH THE WORLD CUP!!! Really, I’m very excited for that 😀 Going to bars to watch the game, or staying at home bitting my nails off and cursing the judge (and the players), or hearing people shouting out the window after a goal, or shouting out the window after a goal. BRASIL, AQUI VOU EU!

This pasts months were so perfect that the thing I want the most is to be delighted in my own country, sharing my experiences and telling people about the amazing characters I met in California, and how INCREDIBLE  is Hollywood 😀 I learned so much from everyone and it will be impossible to forget about those faces. Thank you, Santa Barbara! This firsts months were flawless. Thankfully is just the beginning. Anyways, I’m coming back so there is no need to write this “goodbye” post. In August 2nd everything is starting once again. Hostel, apartment hunting, paying for the bus… I can’t wait!

Best Wishes.

1 month anniversary…

Friday was my first vegan month birthday, and for me this concept is so natural that I even forgot about the date! But I cannot forget to congratulate myself for this accomplishment, and to thank all the people that make this so much easier; I have such good friends!

For this “blog party” I though about doing a journal with everything I ate this past month (great idea!) but to tell you the truth I didn’t eat no fancy vegan food, so I decided to make a list with all the vegan products that I got the chance to try out. 100% of them are SOOO GOOD!

Cookies: I’m obsessed for cookies, and I was so glad when I found out that I didn’t have to give up on them.

I know how a lot of people think that vegan sweets suck, but actually they are WAY better than the normal ones. The first one (by Alternative Baking Co.) is SOOO good, moist and fulfilling. The ones from Uncle Eddie’s are my favorite, since they are small and perfect (peanut butter and chocolate is the best cookie I ever had all my life). And the last one (by Dr. Lucy) is very good too, although is more dry than the others, but still pretty tasty. Healthy, tasty and cruelty free cookies, what else do I need? If I were you, I would rush to closest store in the list to get some, you won’t be disappointed.

info.:
Natural Cafe loc: 509 State St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
Lazy Acres Market loc: 302 Meigs Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93109
Starbucks loc: 800 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

They also sell online, but I love having lunch at Natural Cafe (outside in the sun, with my best-friends) and then having some perfect vegan desert. It’s up to you 😉

Main meals: I try to keep it simple, especially because I don’t have the patience to cook every single day, twice a day. I love to cook, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes is just nice to spend my time doing other things (watching True Blood, for example).

Veggie Burger (by GardenBurger) is the best vegan invention, REALLY! The veggies inside of it are so good, and the consistence is flawless. The Roasted Vegetable Pizza, No Cheese (by Amy’s Kitchen) is very unusual, and it’s a completely different pizza experience, light in the tummy and so good for the mouth. Amy’s soups are very good too, but I understand that a lot of people are not up for soup, I love it though. And bread… oh bread! What would I do without you? I like Alvarado St. Bakery because organic is the word that reins my vocabulary. Organic fruits, organic vegetables, organic supermarket, organic sugar… ORGANIC!!! Taste so much better, and with good plaining is not heavy in the pocket either. I know how expensive (and marvelous) Lazy Acres (or Whole Foods) is but there’s always good places around you that sell organics, just look harder. Did go to the Farmer’s Market closest to you? Research, ask, walk around, read about it… having information about what you eat is your choice. Think about it!

Deserts and Snacks: I’m definitely a desert and snack person! Sometimes I try to avoid it, but other times I just give in. Enjoying my food 🙂

Peanut Butter… with bread… The only thing I can say is: Gimme Some!! BTW that one is from Arrowhead Mills Organic (I told you, I really like organic). The pieces of peanuts make me crazy, and I love eating just the peanut butter most of the times.

The crunchy Banana Chips are a great option when you have nothing sweet to eat, or when you don’t want loads of sugar. Sunridge Farms doesn’t add white sugar or artificial tastes, and that makes my head spin with joy 🙂

Now the sorbet… I love it so much! I just got it last week, and I’m trying to save as much as I can because is SOO good! I love mango, and along with tangerine makes it so special. Is by Double Rainbow Gourmet Ice Creams and I could eat it all day haha

There is so much alternatives for vegans everywhere that the transition was the easiest thing I ever get the chance to do in my whole life. As you can see I practically just buy groceries at Lazy Acres, because it works FOR ME, but you should go anywhere you want and feel better in it. As I said before: it’s your choice. Although I gave you some pretty good alternatives for your cookies, hamburger, pizza and even ice creams… Now it’s up to you, my friend (as Tatiana would say).

Later on I will do a list of my favorite vegan places to eat, just so you know hehe

I know that most of the people that read my blog aren’t vegan or vegetarians, and my goal is to show my readers how easy is to do something good to ourselves, our planets and the animals. I became a vegan because I wanted to (after reading about it) and maybe the same thing will happen to you. This choice isn’t just about health, is about how much do YOU care about what is going on around you. They need our help!

I am doing my part, what about you?

Best Wishes!

Meet your Meat…

“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.”  – Paul McCartney

I must say: since I became a Vegan I can’t stop searching for informations about anything related to the matter. From tasty recipes to new shocking videos that will help me to understand a little bit more every day. I seek those facts in blogs, forums, related websites… Each small part is important, and every single day I more proud of myself for making this choice, and more disgusted with animals products. I feel so better inside of my mind and with my body that sometimes even sounds like a dream: Wow, I am free of meat! However (once again) is not about me! It’s about them…

Is your choice to watch this, but I can guarantee that you won’t feel sorry you did.

We need to help them! Animals are not our property and we must stop treading them as they were!

Let’s make a difference in the world. How about that? Once YOU choose to get control of YOUR life, and what YOU put inside of YOUR body, things will be better, for you and for them!

Best Wishes.

“Truely man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds theirs.  We live by the death of others:  we are burial places!  I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look on the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.”  – Leonardo da Vinci

Perfection…

One of my “must attend” events in the my future glamours life (cof-cof) is the Met Ball. I have no idea what goes on inside, but what I do know is that I’m dying to have a gorgeous high couture dress wrapping my body. However today is not about me (especially because I didn’t got there this year)! Is about my favorite british actress. Someone that grew up in front of our eyes, that let the teenagers corky looks behind and managed to be (in my opinion) one of the biggest fashion icons on the scene: Emma Watson.

There is she in 2002 at the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets premier. Not so good, huh? I mean, what is up with those SHOES?? Not to mention the bag or the actual dress… BUT, thankfully, she fired her personal stylist, and found her way in the crow. And now, she looks like this:

Not bad, huh? She looks heavenly in this Burberry dress! Everything fits together, and she definitely proved that her place it is in the spot light.

Talent and good looks… promising future I would say. Hopefully one day she will give me some fashion tips 🙂

Best Wishes!!
